Anyone Want A Lodger?

Past member Paul Burges has been in touch - his 22yr old stepson is looking for accomodation for a couple of months.

He is currently working near Regent's Park, but needs to move out of where he is living at the moment by the end of the month. He needs something in the meantime while he finds other, more, permanent accomodation. Paul says he is "a quiet, well mannered Lad of 22 and shows an interest in cycling".

If anyone can help, leave a comment and I'll give you Paul's email address.

Small rucksack

I get a load of emails advertising all sorts of things, and it's always an effort to work out what to pass on here - that might be of interest to members - and what is just free advertising to commercial enterprises if I post on here.

Today I've had an email offering the following rucksacks for cyclists for the princely sum of £3 each, if anyone is interested. Click on pics to enlarge the image.

 Dark Grey

Light Grey
They look as if they are suitable for riding out to races in summer (do we do that anymore?) when you just have a rain jacket, phone & wallet to carry. The bags are rated at 9L capacity - if that means anything to you! And are on sale at £9.99 at their online shop, which is apparently closing down.

If you are interested post a comment or email me and state whether you want light grey or dark grey (and how many in the event of wanting more than one!)

Currently I'm thinking let me know by the 20th April if you would like one.

DELTA Reigate to Brighton Ride

Dear Lisa
I work for a charity called DELTA which helps deaf children to listen and talk.
We have held a bike ride from Reigate to Brighton for the last 15 years and wondered if any of your members would be willing to take part and help raise some much needed sponsorship money to help support our vital work. Last year we had 70 riders and raised £9K, this year we are hoping for 100 riders and to top £10K
I'm attaching some leaflets and application forms which explains everything. If you would like hard copies please let me know and I can supply those to you.
Look forward to hearing from you
Many thanks

I've no idea whether male or female.

They are ready to collect and £75 ea (or free to a good home with someone she knows, which we might manage to negotiate - or not!!!!)

If anyone is interested, contact me ASAP and I will put you in touch with my colleague.

Training camps

Just thought I would throw this into the mix, from Janet Birkmyre, as we've been talking about training camps recently ... you can reach her at:

Dear cycling friend

David, Jack and I are the new UK Representatives for DELPOZO CYCLING, which offers cycling training vacations on the Costa del Sol and trips to race events.

What makes DELPOZO CYCLING different from the other providers, is the incredibly personal service that they give and the very flexible attitude, which allows trips to be tailored to the individual. We travelled with them to the World Masters road race and time trial in St Johann last year and simply could not believe the lengths Eri the owner of DELPOZO CYCLING went to to ensure our trip was successful in every way.

Prices from just £297 per person/week
Guided training rides 7 days a week (3 levels) in breathtaking Andalucian scenery
Best weather in Europe
Staying at 4* Hotel Costa Lago with breakfast and dinner buffets
Great facilities for Triathletes

Click on links above for more information or drop me or David a line.

Wishing you a happy and successful new year.

Jan and David

I have had an email from Sigma Sport bike shop - Gary's team - advertising their Team Launch etc.

As you may or may not be aware, we are organising an Expo and Sigma Sport racing team launch on 2nd March, see the attached flyer for details.

I should think many of your members and hopefully yourself would be interested in attending what promises to be an excellent event and a very social evening. I would appreciate it if you could promote this to your members.

Thanks in advance for your help, hope to see you there.

All the best

Thursday 2nd March
4pm to 10.30pm at
The Hampton Court Golf Club

It's time for our annual extravaganza where we get all our major suppliers and brands together to show you what's on offer for the coming year. This is a product viewing, not a sales evening, so you get the opportunity to chat with representatives from the companies and ask them the difficult questions. The show will feature all of our major bike brands together with a selection of wheels and components: Trek, Specialized, Cervélo, Look, Colnago, De Rosa, Pinarello, Seven, Sigma, Parlee, Time, ITM, Profile, Fulcrum, Mavic, Bontrager, Lightweight and more.

On the software side we'll have cycle clothing from Gore, Assos, Sportful and Rapha as well as triathlon clothing and wetsuits from Orca and Ironman.
The evening will also see the launch of the Sigma Sport Racing Team for 2006 headed up by former Giro d'Italia rider, Matt Stephens. David Harmen from Eurosport will be present all evening to answer questions and to introduce the team at 8pm.

Because the shop simply isn't big enough for an Expo like this we've taken over the Hampton Court Golf for the evening. The venue is conveniently located in the middle of Hampton Court's Home Park and has plenty of free parking and even somewhere to leave your bike, should you choose to ride rather than drive.
You can find a map on how to get to the venue (it's just off the roundabout next to Sigma Sport) on our website

All our major suppliers will be on hand to answer your questions throughout the evening. There is no selling at the show, so there is no pressure to buy on the spot, and entry is completely free. We are laying on food, there's a bar at the venue and it would be great to see you there.
