700 x 20-28 Inner Tubes - 5 for a Tenner!

Yes it is true, but only if I buy 50 of them!

So if you would like to buy 5 for a tenner and if I receive confirmed orders from at least 8 of you I will be happy to order them and either deliver them to you at Horton Country Park on a Saturday morning or I could bring them to the dinner dance at the end of Feb or you could collect them from me in Epsom.

There are of course other sizes available (700 x 28-38, 27 x 1-1.25, 26 x 2.3-3.0 etc) so do let me know and if there is sufficient interest I will order those as well. Oh, and they are made by Specialized - high quality, light weight, black rubber....ooooo!

Here's the cheapest source that I have found so far and this shows the details of the tubes available. Do let me know if you have found a cheaper supplier and I will be happy to buy from there.

ps For those who are new to blogging, just click on "Post a comment" below this note and leave a comment.

Having finally looked at the link you added, Steve, it might be worth considering buying the "long valve" version of the 20-28mm tubes - unless anyone doesn't want them.
The longer valve is not a problem for "flat" rims, but fits better on the newer Mavic rims like the Open Pro where the rim is slightly profiled. I'm not sure the valves are long enough for any of the aero race rims though.

£100 the lot ONO, or I'll happily negotiate on single items.

Wanted: Campag 8speed cassette hub

Pete & Daphne of the Cheam & Morden are after replacement parts for a Campagnolo 8 speed hub.
The freehub has given out on her original wheel and they are urgently looking for the simplest and cheapest replacement alternative - ie not changing everything to 9 speed. And fairly quickly as she's only the one bike!

I don't suppose any Phoenix members have got an old wheel that would be a suitable replacement for Daphne to tour on, but Pearson's have apparently offered to cannibalise a suitable hub.

Anyone got an old 8 speed racing wheel that is unlikely to be used due to upgrading?

Let me know and I will pass the message on, and put you in touch if you can help.

TT Mercian for sale

My beautiful ice bluepearl Mercian TT bike is for sale. It was built in 2003 and has done less than 100 miles. Size is about 60cm (from memory - I'm 6ft 1in) It has Campagnolo chainset, gears and brakes. All components are good quality. There are 2 sets of wheels - thin hps and sprints included. Minimum price accepted is £300 to me and £30 to KPRC funds. The frame alone was way more than that but I can't see myself racing again. It is in Wilton just off the A30 at a friend's house. His name is Nick Green work mobile is 7970 597438 House phone is 01722 744500. he's with his parents Nigel and Julie. Bike can be seen in by arrangement in their garage. I think it's 853 tubing - have asked Mercian if they can look it up and tell me. It has 'ordinary' bars. It's a beauty - some club members will have seen it when I turned up for a '10' South of Dorking that got cancelled (fortunately for me!) 'cos of roadworks. It will go on eBay after Christmas if not sold. My email is I am in Guatemala. Payment by cash or cheque to the Greens or PayPal to my email addess above.

Wanted: Tandem Partner - female Phoenix member

In an effort to support Andy's aims of encouraging women racing at the 15m distance, I am planning to ride the tandem in the 15 on Saturday 1st July (day before the SCCU 50), what I require is a female club member to ride the back.....

On offer here is a chance to set a Phoenix Club Record for Ladies Tandem at 15m. (We might also have a chance of winning something in the event!!!)

Any takers......?

First offer gets the back seat, so don't hesitate on this one - if you fancy trying the back of the Tandem, now's your chance. On the other hand if you fancy a go generally (male or female) I'm always looking for a stoker!

Send me an email or text if you are interested.

Update: Rachel has volunteered to stoke me round.

Books going spare....

As you can see (Dear Reader), Pete is getting the hang of this posting-to-the-blog lark. I would like everyone to sign up (and you need an invite from me to actually get to post to this blog) so that we can all post things on here for everyone to read. TonyT sent me an advert for some books he wants to get rid of. I hoped he would manage to post it himself, but maybe later.......

In the meantime:

Tony says:
"I have 3 paperback books brought as a bundle that I was about to throw out, however, if anybody is interested let me know and you can have them:

Lance Armstrong ‘It’s not about the bike

I expect most people have read this one already, confirms everything you know about him already – Great athlete, not much of a of a person

Flying Scotsman ‘The Graeme Obree Story

Great read, if you think you have had crap season, this is for you, puts my punctures into perspective

Willy Voet ‘Breaking the Chain’ Drugs and Cycling the true story

I had this book for ages and could not be bothered with it, then I picked it up and could not put down. Fortunately Richard Virenque has retired otherwise I could not watch him ride without laughing

If you are interested in any of them or all of them let me know together with your address and I will post them to you."

I'm not going to post Tony's email address, as I'm being deluged with enough spam due to email addresses being available on the website. Anyone want to email Tony, let me know and I will send you his address. Club members and persons known to me personally only.
