ECCA 12hr

Stuart and Simon are both riding their first 12hr on Sunday, the ECCA event taking place based around the Duxford area.

Simon is the second rider to start, off at 05:32 (no. 32), Stuart at 05:45 (no. 45) - and George Brent from the Addiscombe is also riding. Top seed is Nik Bowdler who won the event last year with a new course record.

The course starts close to the finish of the M11 spur (just south of the Duxford junction of the M11) and the riders start by following the A11/A14/A11 North up to Red Lodge, retrace South to the Four Went Ways RAB and repeat, then they turn at Four Went Ways for the 3rd time and branch off the A11 to the Six Mile Bottom circuit with it's Northern turn just South of Stowmarket.

When the riders leave this circuit they head back through Four Went Ways, along the A505 to the M11 RAB where they turn, retracing to an immediate left which takes them on a circuit through Newton and Fowlmere, coming back out to the A505 and returning past the entrance to the Duxford Air Museum through the M11 RAB again to continue on the circuit.

Finally they move onto the more devious finishing circuit!

Anyone interested in their progress during the day should (all being well) be able to follow on Twitter by clicking on this link: https://twitter.com/kingstonphoenix

If you are a regular twitter user then you know how this works, if you are not, you should be able to use the link above as a regular web page to follow the updates that I hope to make during the day.

I'll also start a thread on the forum, in case I have the opportunity to update there, but Twitter is the way forward!! ;-) Edit: Jake already started a thread, so I'll post to that if I am able.

Or if you fancy coming up to join in - a 12hr is an experience for the spectators/helpers as well as the riders - give me a ring on my mobile to find out where I am. You should know the number, but email me this evening if you need a refresher.

Lisa
