After all the bad weather over the last few months, and the cancellation of the Medium Gear 25,it was a relief to run the first Evening 10 of the year with no need to cancel - either for weather/bad light or roadworks. Many of the riders had a scramble to arrive on time as the traffic on the A24 from the M25 seemed particularly bad, but all those that rode 'enjoyed' a brisk South-Westerly wind at their shoulder on the return leg.
Congratulations to Simon Trehearn who blew out of the water the theory that I was expounding to a number of riders wondering why they went "that slow" - by recording a PB! But I stand by my theory: riders cannot expect to go faster in April than they were going in the preceding September. Most of us just do not work that hard over the winter and only speed up again with racing and warmer weather.
