The final night of the South London Roller League proved to be more than Simon bargained for, having an unbeatable perfect score of four counting matches out of a possible six and suffering from a cold he decided to miss the last event at the Addiscombe clubroom and go along to relax and enjoy the spectacle. The small print decreed that in order to qualify as Vets medal winner a rider had to at least ride over on the final night. No kit, no bike, no shoes: plus a cold, Simon wandered around other riders checking bike and shoe sizes, Shaun Kennedy was the best bet and so Simon rolled up his long trousers borrowed Shaun’s shoes and bike and dutifully rode two rides to become the Vets Roller League Champion for 2005 complete with winners Medal!
