Commiserations to the ladies for attempting their record which almost certainly would have been broken were it not for Suzie puncturing at 18 miles. I feel sure that they will have another go in our 80th year and with a bit of luck emulate the men with there own record. Go for it girls I'm sure you can do it!

Men's 25m Team Record Broken
The Club Men's Team 25 mile record was broken yesterday at the PNECC Open 25, with Dale, Alex and Simon T's combined time being 2:51:38, beating the 28 year record by 1 minute 16 seconds. John Beer was also out and rode 1:01:50 in not ideal conditions. The ladies team of Jake, Rachel and Suzie were looking on course to break their record too, but unfortunately Suzie punctured at around 18 miles. Jake rode 1:09:10 with Rachel riding a 1:06:xx. I think the ladies will have another go at this later in the season. An excellent effort by all. Well done.
Dale Lush 55:03
Alex Kew 56:48
Simon Trehearn 59:47

Peggy Jones - RIP
We have learned of the recent death of Peggy Jones, the last remaining of our original 9 official founder members, at the age of 97. Peggy was looking forward to celebrating our 80th Anniversary with the club, but it was not to be.
Her family are planning a small, family-only service and then they are planning a "celebration of Peggy's life" on Sunday 19th June at North
Baddesley, SO52 9DT from 3pm. They would welcome any members of the Phoenix who would like to attend. (Sadly several of us who might otherwise have gone will be unable to make it).
Peggy when much younger with husband Fred (also one of the original 9)
Peggy at the 60th Anniversary, with Arthur Picton (another of the original 9)
Peggy at the 70th Anniversary, with Norman Redhead (a very early member)

Frank Cubis - latest
Well, to be honest the "latest" is pretty much no change.
10 days after his accident we are still waiting for Frank to regain consciousness.
The good news is that they successfully reduced the brain swelling quite quickly but, of course, the bad news is the list of injuries. I don't know how the accident happened or what actually took place, but it seems clear that he was very much "run over". The list includes head (and I believe facial) injuries; serious damage to his left arm & hand; broken ribs; broken pelvis and damage to his kidneys.
In some respects, the longer he remains asleep the better for the healing of his body, but it is always concerning when someone doesn't appear to wake up when they are no longer sedated.
At the moment all we can do is wait, and to hope and pray for him.
But then Frank has always been good at doing things that seem incredible:
Lisa
