Due to the issues with email lists within the club, I have only recently had the opportunity to read Alex's TT Sec Report for last year. One of his targets for 2016 was: "Enter a men’s and women’s team in the SCCU team competition", so I though I'd explain what is need for this to be achieved, while it is still possible for it to happen.
SCCU competitions are based on SCCU events, plus a couple of extra events run by associated clubs/organisers.
The men's competition requires riders to complete each of the three distances 100, 50 and 25 miles and the team is comprised of the 3 riders with the highest average over the distances. Much the same applies to the women's competition except that the qualifying distances are 50,25 and 10 miles.
There is only one possible 100 to ride, the SCCU's own promotion on July 24, but there are two 50s and 3 events at each of 10 and 25 - except that two of those events have already taken place at both the 10 & 25, so the remaining counting events are:
SCCU 50 - 26 Jun Sussex CA 50 - 3 Jul SCCU 100 - 24 Jul (Only needed for the Men's BAR) SERC 10 - 13 Aug (Only needed for the Women's BAR) SCCU 25 - 4 Sep
All events are listed on the club calendar for 2016
The vets competition is open to both sexes, but uses the men's qualifying distances of 100, 50 and 25.
So, boys and girls, time to think about entering one (or both) of those 50s, and aim for the remaining qualifying events.
And there's another of the targets to consider with the SCCU 100, the men's team record of 12:34:09 to beat (that's 4:11:20 or better for each man!).
Good Luck!
Good Luck!
