Because of the concern regarding cones on the Southern carriageway on the Capel By-Pass I went to inspect them today, my thoughts are that it would be very unwise for safety reasons to use this part of the course, so we now have an amended course.
Start in Spook Hill as the 10 start, proceed to Beare Green RBT then take the 4th exit onto the A29 (You must indicate your intentions that you are not continuing on the A24) this point will be marshalled, continue as before back to Clarks Green Rbt, Capel By-Pass northbound, past the usual finish by the railway bridge for a further 1.12 miles to finish at Power Pole 1456 at Bushy Croft, just before the 50mph sign. 25 miles.
London South have been informed and agreed, also sent updated event details to Surrey Police.
Have a safe but fast ride.
Frank
If you would like to see a map of the route that Frank has sorted then I have put it onto here. http://www.trainingpeaks.com/sr/B3DCR5M5Y7BL5TGDJOELXVNJ3I
ReplyDeleteThanks for the map, just one query ... at clarkes green rbt it appears that the route wiggles off the A24 towards capel only to rejoin the A24 about a third of a mile later? Is that right or is it just a glitch in the map? Ta, Rick
ReplyDeleteRick,
DeleteNo it won't be right.
There is no way that a CTT course would be allowed to be designed like that (with a right turn onto a dual carriageway from a side road).
The actual course will stay on the A24 without that detour.
Good Luck tomorrow, everyone - I won't be out.
Thanks Lisa.
ReplyDeleteAs Lisa says, it's a glitch. Technology *shakes head*
DeleteWill edit it Rick.
Link and route updated. Thanks for spotting it Rick.
